Leader in High Performance Web Security Enhances Leadership Team

CALGARY, AB. February 3, 2009 – Wedge Networks Inc. (“Wedge”), a technology leader in high performance network-based Web Security appliances, announced today that its board of directors has appointed Hongwen Zhang as the Company’s president and chief executive officer. The appointment is the result of Wedge’s ongoing succession planning. Zhang succeeds Phil Gee, who will continue serving as director of the board devoted to expanding market opportunities for Wedge worldwide.

Prior to being appointed president and CEO, Dr. Zhang was Chief Technology Officer at Wedge. He was foundational in developing the high performance architecture of the Wedge BeSecure Web Gateway, Wedge Network’s award-winning security appliance. Dr. Zhang holds a PhD in Computer Science from the Department of Computer Science, University of Calgary, where he co-founded the 24C Group Inc., which developed the world’s first digital receipt infrastructure for secure electronic commerce (acquired by Valicert.com). He also holds an MSc in Computer Engineering from China’s Institute of Computing Technology - Chinese Academy of Sciences (Beijing, PRC), and a BSc in Computer Science from Fudan University (Shanghai, PRC). Furthermore, Dr. Zhang was a principal and the Vice President of Technology of Servidium Inc. (acquired by ThoughtWorks Inc.) a global leader in agile development methodology. Dr. Zhang is a co-inventor on several patents in the area of computing and networking, and brings over 18 years of high-tech leadership experience.
